The Dr. Ladislaus Batthyány-Strattmann confraternity of prayer for the canonization of the poor’s doctor is a community of catholic men and women, who aim to orient themselves on a Christian way of life in the Catholic Church. Origin of this ambition is the blessed Ladislaus Batthyány-Strattmann, whose saintly conduct and commitment to his religious belief, family and profession as a doctor for the poor even today can be a strong appeal to our own life.
On 23rd March 2008, the 5th anniversary of his beatification, the confraternity of prayer was invested by the archbishop of Vienna-Austria Christoph Cardinal Schönborn as a private association being entitled under the justification of canon law.
Members of the confraternity aim to follow the spirit of blessed Ladislaus, in particular trying
- to find God’s sake and abandon oneself to it.
- to plead for peace, conciliation and equity.
- to ask God for condonation of all unjustness and to avenge by praying, charity and oblation.
- to keep and provide the memory of blessed Ladislaus and make efforts to support his canonization.
- to advocate Christian ethics in medicine, as well as the inviolability and integrity of creation, thereby encouraging the catholic church's ambitions.
